Windows 10 won't receive any more feature updates

Linux Mint is way easier than any version  of Windows I have ever used. YouTube has some good videos one can watch to see how it operates. For Windows users Linux Mint looks very similar in the way to use it. Also Linux is free and the individual has much more ability to control what they want on their computer.

As you know Windwalker, LFF and I are Linux users and I have no doubt that all three of us will help you all we can.

Thank you in the next couple of days or so.  Have a few things to do between now and then. I won't forget.

Wow, I was not aware of what Jeanne posted regarding Windows 10 Feature Updates??? Glad that I just happened to scroll down and read what she had to say!! Looks as though we will have to download Windows 11, even though there are those of you who much prefer Linux.

I'm having Linux put on my new laptop.  Picking it up Tuesday.

I still have my old windows XP on the shelf, but I won't use it.

Besides the XP, why don't you use it?

Why don't you put Linux on that machine? We are not talking about the XP disk are we?

Angel you know that Windows is not free where as Linux is? I'm telling you Linux is so much easier than any Windows system I have used. It really is not that hard to install and for sure much easier to maintain and operate. With the exception of a few graphic programs not available for Linux (however there are plenty free ones that are) there has been nothing that I have not been able to accomplish using Linux.

Check that your machine is compatible, Angel. They say, there are ways around the new requirements for Windows 11, but not sure how technical you have to be to use machines not suited for Windows 11. I loved Windows, Windows XP was the last I used, as they started forcing "by accident they said" upgrades, I decided I didn't want that life. I don't knock anyone that wants to use Windows. It just isn't for me. The last Windows that didn't collect information on the user, or push ads, was XP.

Thanks, Cheyenne. Anything they can do, to force people to something new. Those that enjoy Windows, my hats off to you. I couldn't do it. I set up a Windows' laptop a few months back, and it was a nightmare for me. Pages and pages of stuff, to hunt down, and turn off, that might collect data on you. Waiting forever for it to suddenly update, before I could proceed. I love privacy and control. Plus, mine is free! No worries about malware, I ran a virus scan a couple of weeks back, just for old time's sake. No defragging, or registry cleaning. :chair

You can always wait till they call the end of life for Windows 10. Of course, it will not belong till they come out with another Version of Windows beyond 11 I'm sure. It usually goes on about a 5-6 year cycle?

I also am not knocking anyone who wants to use Windows I am just saying that Linux Mint is way more easy and a lot less hassle and you own it where as with Windows you do not. As a side note I just got notice that an update to one of the programs used by Mint was available for downloading. Now I went ahead and downloaded it and installed it, took all of 3 seconds to complete. Note it was not bundled in a huge update taking forever as is usually the case with Windows.

I'm with you, Angel.  When to "bite the bullet".
